Bonhams auction - 15th December 2011

Doesn’t time fly!
It doesn’t seem that long since the last Bonhams auction, and the next in December is soon upon us.

The online catalogue has been posted and there 23 Doctor Who items, most of which are from the Tennant era.

Amongst them are some of Tennant’s SUITS! But don’t get too excited – none are the pinstripe versions – they are all relating to Human Nature and Family Of Blood, when The Doctor is incognito as a school teacher.

Doctor Who - The Christmas Invasion, December 2005
A partial Sycorax costume, comprising: a full length red velvet robe, with split side-seam for arms, and hook and eye fastenings to back; a pair of gauntlets with rubberised metal effect wrist braces and gloves coated in plastic shards giving stone effect, both labelled inside Sycorax Leader Gauntlets; a pair of boots being shoes with coarse wool fabric over upper and to leg portion and fibreglass metal effect boot covers, one labelled inside KARL; together with a brown leather belt, with square cut detail and brass buckle (6)

A complete Clockwork Droid costume, comprising: a military style coat, of navy blue wool, with applied gold braid and brass buttons, with red cuffs; a dark blue coloured waistcoat with gold coloured trim and brass buttons; a pair of dark blue velvet trousers, with silver fabric applied to hem and silver buttons; together with a cotton shirt, similar to that used on screen, a white cotton scarf and a pair of shoe labelled ‘Exhibition’ (6)

Two Roboform costumes, one believed to have been David Tennant’s disguise costume worn during the episode, each outfit comprising:
a black hooded cape of wool, with Velcro® fastening and split side seam, together with a black wool jacket/coat, the costume attributed to Tennant with a pair of black loafer shoes and a black leather effect belt with large buckle, the other with belt only (2 costumes)

Although relatively unknown when starring in this 2007 episode of Doctor Who, Andrew Garfield has more recently starred in The Social Network and Never Let Me Go. He will also be starring as Peter Parker/ Spider-Man in a new film due for release in 2012.

The reference to ‘Paul’ in the costume is believed to refer to the actor Paul Kasey. Kasey, has appeared in numerous Doctor Who and Torchwood episodes as monsters and featured as the “Hero Pig” in Daleks In Manhattan/ Evolution Of The Daleks episode.
